a rolling stone waiting to be set in motion

last night I got my first taste of real frontline social work. And let me tell you, it was many things. I can't really say much, but lets just say that it was intense.

Anyways, once I stop working I'm sure i'll have loads of self reflection, but I work all next week at a day camp with a different client. So I must endure, friends.

Saw Superman. It's no secret that he is my favorite, always has been always will be. I liked it, but wasn't totaly blown away. The director took some liberties that I felt he shouldn't have. I don't like it when they do somthing that totally contradicts the comic book universe. Thats why I had to stop watching smallville. (making superman's real dad evil was just stupid)

Of course the main complaint people have with the boy in blu eis that he's not realistic. He's a boy scout. He has all the powers and only one weakness. Well actually superman has two main weakness' 1) kryptonite, and 2) the fact that he can't be everywhere at once (and he can't be involoved with wars/political battles).

The reason for superman leaving was to see if any krypton was still around. This plays nicely into the 'I am alone in the universe; feeling, but I would have preferred a 'I can't save everyone, I can't do anything to stop these wars' type of theme (which would fit nicely with the world today). But maybe that'll be the theme of the sequal.

alright, enough ranting about superman, I'm out.

I can never be a writer. I mean it's not that I don't have intresting things to say, I just lack motivation and talent. I mean I was gonna write about empowerment, and how complicated it is in practice. What if empowerment of long term goals means having to disempower people over the short term. Does anyone actually have the right to force someone to give up instant gratification for delayed gratification? (espicially when our society and we don't do that. BUt the thing is that you guys probablly aren't intrested in my ranting on empowerment, and no one from my social work classes reads this. PLus who wants to write things and and back it up with example. phewy

from now on i'm sticking with working and television.

My mother made me go berry picking today. She promised I would only have to pick one basket...she lied. It was wet. Slugs were out. We did an hours work and then PAID $30 for it. My knees hurt and are covered with wet stinky hay. I'm going to kill myself...by eating all the berries before she gets a chance to make them into delicious pies and jams.

I'm not sexist but never go berry picking with a woman (or anyone else for that matter).
