self-help

One more mother. on thusday at 2.
I have a job interview monday, for parks and recreation in brockville. it would be a sweet job but i'd have to work some weekends. (i think the shifts are 7 to 7, 3 days on, 3 off but not sure.) but still, maybe i could go fishing on my lunch breaks (althought it would be on the st. lawernce) so hopefully the interview goes well, otherwise i'll be hitting the street HARD on tuesday.

the stress and anxiety is almost gone, only to be replaced by more.
anyways the office (US) season finale is on, gotta go

So Douglas, what did you learn in school this year?

I learned how to perform a prefrontal lobotomy, and I would give one to myself if they weren't so darn permanent.
I've been spending the last 2 days with Freud and his students (most of whom stopped studying under him cause they disagreed with him so much). But today in studying I get to move on to psychiatric and physiological diseases and their various treatment. Do you suffer from neurosis or psychosis? For me, a little of both)

somewhere over the rainbow

sweet, 2 exams down two to go. but for some reason they're giving me an empty week so i have to wait for the next two. but after that it's back to brockville, where i can bring out the beater and pellet/airsoft guns. I'm gonna get a new air soft gun this summer, it's fully auto. I can't wait to raid people's homes with it. And I'm pretty sure i'll have some dirty diapers to change (you know who you are)

hey ho

rough night. todays exam is not going to go to well

did I mention that I haven't shaven in a week because it's an old custom not to shave during exams?

i'm not insane, not yet. I made $20 dollars today by allowing some grad studends to test my hormone levels while playing virtual reality gambling. apparently gambling is one of my turn ons (it was set so that I would win more then usual)

I can't wait for summer. Exams? what exams? oh i'm screwed, not really, but i think my marks might drop slightly, but psychology is the only one that I'm at risk of failing... i think. usually I wouldn't care but I need good marks to try to get into social work. but if not... Hakunamadata (how do you spell that?)

maybe i have a.d.d. actually I don't, Have just had like 3 caffine pills tonight (it says to only take 4 in a 24 hour period and i've had 3 in a 6 hour period. and I've been chasing them with coke). so hopefully the heart palpatations won't come, but now that i have so much energy, i'm packing. but i need to study... but it's too late to study, so pack i will

next exam- saturday./ you do the praying, i'll do the studying (and probablly pray as well)

so much energy, so little motivation

all work and no play makes Doug a dull boy

I'm starting to go crazy, I have a pinch of the cabin fever. classes ended last monday, and friday was my last day of work, so since then I've barricated myself in the apartment to study (and procrastinate). but now the cabin fever is taking over. first exam wensday.
My traditional exam week(s) beard as started. no shaving during exams, this includes not shaving the unibrow. I'll post weekly picture of the hairs progress until exams are over. and then sweet freedom (for at least a weekend, then work mon-fri. for four months... yay)

green day blows. ha ha ha, i said it.

ya, so my pet peeve lately is that little greenday band. Don't get me wrong, there was a time when they were my favorite band... when i was in grade 8. But lately I don't understand why everyone thinks they're so great? because they're political? Political is sorta the 'in' thing right now. what about bands that were political way before sept. 11 like rage against the machine, or 80% of old school punk bands. not to mention that when you compare a 'political' greenday song to let's say; a political system of a down song, it makes green day songs look like a political pacifier. let me give you an example:
GREENDAY parts of HOLIDAY:
"Zieg Heil to the president gas, man,
Bombs away is your punishment,
Pulverize the Eiffel towers,
Who criticize your government,
Bang, Bang goes the broken glass and,
Kill all the fags that don't agree,
Trials by fire setting fire,
Is not a way that's meant for me,
Just cause,
Just cause because we're outlaws, yeah!"

ok, so greenday has some decent stuff here, commenting on americas homophobia and they the government turns on people that go against them. it's clear that greenday watches CNN. good for them. now lets try somthing different
SYSTEM OF A DOWN parts of PRISON SONG
"Following the rights movements
You clamped on with your iron fists,
Drugs became conveniently
Available for all the kids,
Nearly 2 million Americans are incarcerated
In the prison system,
Prison system of the U.S.
Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
You don't even flinch
All our taxes paying for your wars
Against the new non-rich,
The percentage of Americans in the prison system
Prison system, has doubled since 1985
All research and successful drug policy show
That treatment should be increased,
And law enforcement decreased,
While abolishing mandatory minimum sentences
Utilizing drugs to pay for secret wars around the world,
Drugs are now your global policy,
Now you police the globe,
Drug money is used to rig elections,
And train brutal corporate sponsored
Dictators around the world."

OK, so i was a little biased towards system of a down and posted more of their lyrics, but reading parts of this system of a down song is more like reading a research paper. I mean I hope we can assume that these stats are correct. by listening to a system of a down song, i've actually learned somthing new... now thats a political song (and you know you're hardcore when you start quoting statistics in the middle of a hardcore song).

now there's also the argument about whether or not greenday has sold out. I'll be honest, I don't really care because I think in order to sell out you have to stand for something. Rappers doing movies isn't selling out because most main stream rappers sing about getting money and women, and doing movies helps you to achieve that. but doesn't it strike anyone that greenday, who used to wear things like t-shirts and jeans, or whatever else they happened to be wearing to shows and interviews, now have changed their image? for the past 3(?) videos they've had the exact same look (billy's black eyed, black suite and red tie, tre's little fashion mohawk) and they haven't changed for the videos or interviews. They're not just selling music anymore, they're selling an image too now (this is where i would call them sell outs if I felt that they had somthing to sell out from). yet another victory for the MTV generation (thats sarcasm). music is about sound, not appearance

why try to say it when others have already said it better

"We never keep to the present. We recall the past; we anticipate the future as if we found it too slow in coming and were trying to hurry it up, or we recall the past as if to stay its too rapid flight. We are so unwise that we wander about in times that do not belong to us, and do not think of the only one that does; so vain that we dream of times that are not and blindly flee the only one that is. The fact is that the present usually hurts. We thrust it out of sight because it distresses us, and if we find it enjoyable, we are sorry to see it slip away. We try to give it the support of the future, and think how we are going to arrange things over which we have no control for a time we can never be sure of reaching.

Let each of us examine his thoughts; he will find them wholly concerned with the past or the future. We almost never think of the present, and if we do think of it, it is only to see what light it throws on our plans for the future. The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so." -- Pascal
